150
Years of Service
Three
members of the Sisters of Charity I.C. celebrated their 50th anniversaries
in Saint John, NB. Sisters Margaret Toner, Fay Trombley, and Alice
Vickers have given a total of 150 years of services as educators,
administrators, counselors, and parish assistants … in the tradition
of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Louise de Marillac, 17th century helpers
of the poor, and of Honoria Conway who guided the congregation’s
founding in Saint John in 1854.
Sr. Margaret Toner is currently executive director of the Canadian
Religious Conference. Sr. Fay Trombley, a retired faculty member of
Newman Theological College in Edmonton, is presently pastoral administrator
of Our lady of Grace Parish in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
Sr, Alice Vickers, previously engaged in teaching and associate pastoral
ministry, continues to be involved in pastoral work.
“You’ve accompanied people through storms in their lives,
individuals and communities”, said Fr. Bill Brennan. “We
know first hand that through you, God is not asleep to our needs”.
